Neo-Aristotelian criticism

The book defines Neo-Aristotelian criticism as the first formal method of rehetorical criticism that is concerned with effect.According to the text, the three basic steps that are used when analyzing an artifact are 1) reconstructing the context in which the artifact occured" 2) application of the five canons to the artifact 3)assesing the impact of the artifact on the audience (Foss, 2009). The five canons of rhetoric are invention, organization, style, memory, and delivery.
